Acclive is an online debate academy focusing on recreational & competitive debate for pre-college students.
▼ How Does it Work?
Qualified instructors host online team meets. There are countless teams to fit every students' level. Every student goes through the one-time tryout so we can choose the team optimal for your students' growth.
Team meets discuss world-relevant & current topics, learn about in-round debate strategy, and run practice debates.
Debaters move up teams and levels as they progress their skills. Each level introduces different opportunities and exciting concepts, creating a dynamic environment for student growth.
When students choose to compete in tournaments, our tournament coaches guide students to competitive success.

▼ Will I compete in tournaments?
Depending on skill level and your students' starting point, debaters are usually ready to compete within 1-3 months.
Competing is OPTIONAL, but it’s highly recommended to attend at least two national tournaments per season for optimal growth and the opportunity to advance to a higher debate team.
▼ How Do You Ensure Quality?
INSTRUCTORS: Acclive hosts only the best, nationally-ranked instructors.
All prospective instructors are first screened based on qualifications. Coaches are then put through intensive review before being live tested in the classroom.
Our instructors are an essential part of what makes Acclive special, and it has been our job to uphold their quality.
CURRICULUM: Acclive's method is time-tested and trusted by over 100+ families around the world.

▼ What/where/why compete?
WHAT: Nationally prestigious tournaments such as the USA Forensics Olympiad, Harvard University, and Stanford University. A limited amount of our very best debaters compete internationally.
WHERE: Mostly online/virtually. Top debaters may choose to compete in some on-site tournaments.
WHY: Based on our past debaters, competing is the best way to grow your debate skills. Also, it's a fun way to bond with teammates and other Acclive debaters!

▼ How Often Are Tournaments?
There are usually tournaments available to compete in on 2-3 weekends per month. Our debaters usually compete in around 1-2 tournaments per month.
You choose to compete based on your own schedule! Some months, a debater may compete in 2 tournaments, while on a busy month, perhaps not at all. This applies to even our best debaters.
▼ What Topics Are Used in Debates?
Topics are usually current events or public policy issues. Examples can range from climate change to immigration policy.

Here are some examples of past Public Forum Debate topics:

✔️ Resolved: Social media platforms should be held accountable for the spread of misinformation.

Judges evaluate clarity and strength of arguments, use of evidence, effectiveness of refutations, overall presentation, and persuasiveness.

▼ How Long are Tournaments?
This varies by tournament. 90% of tournaments span 2 days(over a weekend). A general range is typically 1-3 days.
National tournaments usually consist of multiple rounds, including ~5 preliminary rounds and ~3 elimination rounds, depending on the number of participants.
